Signature Theatre celebrated the official opening of Lynn Nottage's Fabulation, or The Re-Education of Undine, directed by Obie Award winner Lileana Blain-Cruz, December 10. The satirical tale by the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner began performances November 19, kicking off Nottage's playwriting residency at the Off-Broadway theatre.

The title role of Undine is played by Cherise Boothe (Ruined) who is joined by Mayaa Boateng (Fairview), Marcus Callender (Straight Outta Compton), J. Bernard Calloway (Head of Passes), Dashiell Eaves (A Time to Kill), Ian Lassiter (Junk), Nikiya Mathis (Skeleton Crew), and Heather Alicia Simms (Barbecue).

Set in New York City, Fabulation, or The Re-Education of Undine follows successful African-American publicist Undine, as she stumbles down the social ladder after her husband steals her hard-earned fortune. Broke and now pregnant, Undine is forced to return to her childhood home in the Brooklyn projects, where she must face the challenges of the life she left behind.

Performances are in Signature's Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre where the production continues an extended engagement through January 13, 2019.
