In Jenkins’ upcoming film based on the novel by James Baldwin—which he again writes and directs—Tish (Kiki Layne) and Alonzo (Stephan James) fight to prove Alonzo’s innocence and free him from wrongful incarceration before the two welcome their first child.
The leading and supporting cast features numerous Broadway actors including Tony nominee Colman Domingo (Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, The Scottsboro Boys) as Tish’s father and Tony nominee Brian Tyree Henry (Lobby Hero, The Book of Mormon) as Daniel. Other recent Broadway names include Finn Wittrock (The Glass Menagerie, Death of a Salesman), Pedro Pascal (upcoming King Lear), and a small role (seen in the above trailer) by Bobby Conte Thornton (A Bronx Tale).
Also in the principal cast are Regina King, Teyonah Parris, Michael Beach, Aunjanue Ellis, Ebony Obsidian, Dominique Thorne, Diego Luna, Emily Rios, Dave Franco, Ethan Barrett, and Milanni Miles.
