Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of True West opened on Broadway January 24 at the American Airlines Theatre following previews that began December 27, 2018. The production of Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, directed by James Macdonald, is scheduled for a limited engagement through March 17.

True West stars Tony and Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke and Golden Globe nominee Paul Dano as Austin and Lee, respectively. In True West, two brothers—one, a moderately successful screenwriter (Dano), the other, a drifter (Hawke)—reunite in their mother's California home, leading to the airing of old resentments and some unexpected twists in the relationship.

The production also stars Marylouise Burke and Gary Wilmes.

True West debuted on Broadway in 2000 with stars John C. Reilly and Philip Seymour Hoffman swapping roles nightly. The production received four Tony Award nominations: nods to both alternating stars, director Matthew Warchus, and Best Play.
