Based on the novel "The Girl with All the Gifts," the film features a screenplay by the original author, MR Carey.

Directed by Colm McCarthy, filming is expected to begin in May. In addition to three-time Tony winner Close, the motion picture cast will feature Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine.

The thriller, according to the online news source, concerns a "seemingly normal and very intelligent little girl who lives in an underground army bunker with other children her age. They are all experimental cases being examined by scientists to find a cure for a fungal spore that has infected the planet."

Producers are Camille Gatin and Angus Lamont.

Close is a Tony winner for her performances in Sunset Boulevard, Death and the Maiden and The Real Thing.
