A Ghostlight spokesperson said recording and release dates have not yet been set.
The revival, which is scheduled to open Aug. 16, stars Burke Moses as El Gallo, Leo Burmester as Hucklebee, Santino Fontana as Matt, Sara Jean Ford as Luisa, Martin Vidnovic as Bellomy and lyricist/librettist Tom Jones as Henry, The Old Actor, under the stage name Thomas Bruce, as he did in the original 1960 production.
The score is substantially the same as the original as well, though with a revised lyric for "It Depends on What You Pay." The original song, which used the word "rape" in the sense of "abduction," raised hackles and was replaced by a new song, "Abduction," in some productions over the past 20 years. For the 2006 Off-Broadway revival at the Snapple Theater Center Jones has gone back to the original melody and created a new lyric that uses synonyms for "abduction." The new version debuted in previews.
"Try to Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain" are two of the better known songs from the score by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt.
