The work is an adaption of Guan Hanqing's Chinese drama The Injustice to Dou Yi That Moved Heaven and Earth. Cowhig's murder mystery follows a wealthy businesswoman who takes ownership of a factory in a remote town and subsequently learns of a curse placed on the town by an unjustly executed innocent woman.
The creative team also includes scenic designer dots, costume designer Johanna Pan, lighting designer Jeanette Yew, sound designer Fan Zhang, hair and makeup designer Brittany Hartman, movement directioner Sunny Hitt, fight and intimacy director Judi Lewis Ockler, and prop supervisor Caitlin Murphy. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Karyn Casl. Jonathan Castanien serves as production stage manager, and Fatimah Amill is the assistant stage manager.
Royal Shakespeare Company first presented Snow in Midsummer in February 2017, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival produced the U.S. premiere in August 2018.
