Immersive dance party musical Oscar at the Crown has a new belle at the ball!

The musical, playing custom-built venue on Tottenham Court Road in London called The Crown, welcomed RuPaul's Drag Race star Jan Sport as Oscar Wilde September 12, and Playbill has the pictures to prove it. The production is currently scheduled to run through October 30.

The work of queer theatre group The Neon Coven, Oscar at The Crown is set in a dystopian future where fascism reigns, specifically a secret bunker where the majority of what's survived are sequins, reality television, and the complete works of Oscar Wilde. The immersively staged show explores the rise and fall of the historic figure with flair. The London bow follows a 2019 Off-Broadway premiere and a 2023 U.K. premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (where it was named a Playbill Pick).

Said Sport in a previous statement, “This has been a LONG time coming! I have been part of the Oscar at The Crown family since its conception in Boston in 2015, so when I got the call to come to London I couldn’t have said yes fast enough. To be able to return to this amazing show that my brilliant friends have created a decade later in my favorite city in the world feels like the best way to make my U.K. theatre debut. Oscar is the most fun you can legally have in a theatre, and the cast I’m joining are off the charts talented. The venue that has been created specifically for the show in the middle of London sets the tone for an incredible piece of a theatre and an unforgettable night out—so see you all at the bar for a drink, and see you at the show for a PARTY. LONDON!”

Sport joins the current cast of Kelis Alleyne (Roles of a Lifetime, ChangeTheAct) as Erika, Elizabeth Chalmers (SuperYou) as Constance, Ella Daini (Clueless the Musical) as Exile, Luke Farrugia (Frank’s Closet) as Sonja, Zak Marx (Sleeping With Beauty) as Bosie, Ran Marner (Why Am I So Single?) as Exile, Elinor Morris (The Sound Of Music) as Ramona, Isidro Ridout (Priscilla The Party) as Exile, Zofia Weretka as Vicki, and Natalie Yin (Heartstopper) as Exile. Swing Estelle Denison-French (FAME) rounds out the company.

The musical features a book by Mark Mauriello and music and lyrics by Andrew Barret Cox. Shira Milikowsky again directs after staging the earlier runs, with Cox again choreographing.

The London engagement is produced by Royo and Gold Sky, the latter a joint banner for Tony-winning producer Rebecca Gold and Milikowsky.
