Other, a new play written and performed by Tony winner Ari'el Stachel (The Band’s Visit), began performances Off-Broadway October 8, and production photos have now been released.
Directed by Tony Taccone, former artistic director of Berkeley Rep, the piece will officially open October 19 at the Greenwich House Theatre. The limited engagement will continue through December 6. Other arrives after runs at Berkeley Rep and Berkshire Theatre Group. LaChanze Productions presents the Off-Broadway engagement.
Stachel brings an ensemble of voices from his past to life in his solo show about his "anxious search for belonging," according to press notes, including performing through chronic panic in front of thousands.
The production features scenic design by Afsoon Pajoufar, lighting and projections design by Alexander V. Nichols, and sound design by Madeleine Oldham. General management is by ShowTown Theatricals.
Stachel received the 2018 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for originating the role of Haled in The Band’s Visit on Broadway. On screen, he stars in the upcoming feature Death Do Us Part and has appeared in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling and A24’s Zola. His television credits include Law & Order: SVU, Billions, Jessica Jones, Blue Bloods, and The Night Agent.
