Gabriel Kahane's Magnificent Bird/Book of Travelers begins its already extended Off-Broadway run September 24 at Playwrights Horizons. The repertory run will continue through October 13.

Annie Tippe is directing with Kahane performing his own work, both "live concept albums." Magnificent Bird chronicles a year Kahane spent completely off-line, attempting to write one new song a day. Book of Travelers, released as an album in 2018, tracks the musician's 9,000 mile, off-the-grid railway trip in the days following the 2016 presidential election.

"Red Letter Days," one of the songs from Magnificent Bird, has already been released on streaming networks.

The repertory production features scenography by AMP (featuring Oscar Escobedo), costume design by Wendy Yang, lighting design by Christopher Bowser, and sound design by Garth McAleavey. Elizabeth Emanuel is stage manager.
