News Funny Girl Extends West End Run Before Opening There After opening to rave reviews at the Menier Chocolate Factory Dec. 2, the new production of Funny Girl — starring Sheridan Smith in the title role of Fanny Brice — has now already extended bookings on its future West End transfer to the Savoy Theatre before it even gets there.

The production's sell-out run at the Menier is through March 5, 2016; it has previously been announced that it will then begin performances at the West End's Savoy Theatre April 9, prior to an official opening April 20. It was initially booking for a limited 12-week run only through July 12, but booking has now been extended through Sept. 10.

The West End run is being produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Scott Landis Productions and Chocolate Factory Productions.



The production is directed by Michael Mayer, with choreography by Lynne Page, set design by Michael Pavelka, costume design by Matthew Wright, lighting design by Mark Henderson and sound design by Richard Brooker. The musical supervisor is Alan Williams, and orchestrations are by Chris Walker. Harvey Fierstein has adapted the original book.
