The full cast and creative team has been announced for the West End transfer of Patriots, Peter Morgan’s play exploring the fall of the Soviet Union.
The play, which recently won the Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Play for its premiere at Almeida Theatre, will play the Noël Coward Theatre for a 12-week limited run from May 26 to August 19.
The production will star Will Keen, who previously received an Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Vladimir Putin in the original run of the piece. He will be joined by his previous co-stars Luke Thallon (Albion) as Roman Abramovich and BAFTA winner Tom Hollander (White Lotus, The Night Manager) as Boris Berezovsky, as well as Matt Concannon as Assistant/Daniel Kahneman/Russian Captain, Ronald Guttman as Professor Perelman, Sean Kingsley as Voloshin /Nurse, Paul Kynman as Korzhakov/Yeltsin/FSB Boss/Reporter/Bodyguard, and Jessica Temple as Anna Berezovsky/Newscaster/Journalist/ Secretary/Pianist, all of whom are reprising their roles from the Almeida Theatre run.
New cast members will include Josef Davies as Alexander Litvinenko, Ashley Gerlach as Lawyer/Home Office, Howard Gossington as Teacher/Compromised Newscaster, Stefanie Martini as Marina Litvinenko/Nina Berezovsky, and Evelyn Miller as Tatiana/Katya/Judge/Lover. The production's understudies will include Peter Eastland, Lydia Fraser, and Matt McClure.
Patriots takes place in 1992 during the fall of the Soviet Union and explores the real-life story of ambition and betrayal through businessman Berezovsky's journey from the president's confidant to public enemy. Playwright Morgan is best known for serving as the creator and showrunner of Netflix's The Crown.
The creative team for the West End run of Patriots includes director Rupert Goold, set designer Miriam Buether, co-costume designers Deborah Andrews and Miriam Buether, lighting designer Jack Knowles, sound designer and composer Adam Cork, casting director Robert Sterne, movement director Polly Bennett, and associate director Sophie Drake.
