The world premiere of Abe Koogler’s Fulfillment Center officially opens June 20 starring Deirdre O’Connell (By The Water at MTC, The Affair, Circle Mirror Transformation) as a down-on-her-luck folk singer living in the New Mexico desert. The Manhattan Theatre Club production started performances June 6 at The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center.
The new play by the Kill Floor playwright is directed by Daniel Aukin (Fool for Love).
Rounding out the cast are Eboni Booth (Sundown, Yellow Moon), Bobby Moreno (The Year of the Rooster), and Frederick Weller (Mothers and Sons).
In Fulfillment Center, four lonely lives come together in the search for fulfillment. The play, which was commissioned by MTC, is billed as “raw, surprising and funny.” Here’s how the theatre describes the show: “In the New Mexico desert, a down-on-her-luck folk singer takes a job at a giant online retailer's shipping center. Her young manager struggles to connect with his girlfriend newly relocated from New York. And a drifter living at a local campground dangerously links them all.”
The creative team is made up of scenic designer Andrew Lieberman, costume designer Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting designer Pat Collins, and sound designer Ryan Rumery.
Tickets for Fulfillment Center can be purchased online at NYCityCenter.org, by calling CityTix at (212) 581-1212, or by visiting the New York City Center box office, located at 131 West 55th Street.
