During his lifetime, composer Richard Rodgers penned over 900 songs. His partnerships with Lorenz Hart, and later with Oscar Hammerstein II, produced some of the most successful musicals in Broadway history.
His works with Hart included On Your Toes, Babes in Arms, I Married an Angel, The Boys from Syracuse, Pal Joey, and By Jupiter. The Rodgers and Hammerstein collaboration gave birth to groundbreaking successes including Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, Flower Drum Song, and The Sound of Music.
The Rodgers first opened in 1925 as Chanin’s 46th Street, but was renamed in 1990 by the Nederlander Organization in honor of the late Tony Award-winning composer.
The theatre currently plays host to Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit musical Hamilton.
