Former New York Yankee Reggie Jackson is the latest to join Roundabout Theatre Company’s concert staging of Damn Yankees this winter. The retired baseball player, who will play Mr. Welch, joins a previously announced all-star cast that includes Matthew Morrison as Joe Hardy, Adrienne Warren as Gloria Thorpe, Danny Burstein as Van Buren, Victoria Clark as Meg Boyd, Annie Golden as Doris, Whoopi Goldberg as Applegate, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Lola, and Julie Halson as Sister.

Roundabout’s benefit presentation of Damn Yankees will take place December 11 at 7:30 PM at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre and will be directed by Roundabout Associate Artist Kathleen Marshall. Proceeds from the event will benefit the organization’s programming, education, and outreach initiatives.
Reginald Martinez “Reggie” Jackson is an American former professional baseball right fielder who played 21 seasons for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, and California Angels of Major League Baseball. Jackson was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993, and shortly after the Yankees retired his team uniform number.
Completing the company are Jill Abramovitz, Paula Leggett Chase, Lawrence Clayton, Greg Hildreth, Tari Kelly, Michael McCormick, Shina Ann Morris, Kevin Munhall, Keven Quillon, Samantha Sturm, Anthony Wayne, Haley Swindal, Noah Weisberg, and Christian Dante White.
In George Abbott, Douglass Wallop, Richard Adler, and Jerry Ross’ Tony-winning musical, a man sells his soul to the devil to become a baseball player and help his beloved Washington Senators beat the Yankees in the World Series. The show debuted on Broadway in 1955 and was last seen on Broadway in 1993.
The benefit presentation is presented by special arrangement with Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Scott Landis.
