A new staging of Modeste Moussorgski’s Boris Godunov, directed by Tony Award winner Ivo van Hove, opened in Paris on June 7. The Paris Opera production, performed at the Opéra Bastille, continues through July 12.
The opening night cast included Ildar Abdrazakov in the title role, Ain Anger as Pimène, and Evdokia Malevskaya as Fiodor, and Ruzan Mantashyan as Xenia.
Van Hove is also slated to helm a new production of Don Giovanni at Paris Opera before the staging plays New York's Metropolitan Opera.
