The world premiere of On Site Opera Company’s Rhoda and the Fossil Hunt is set to begin performances September 23. The family-friendly performance was co-commissioned and co-produced with Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Lyric Unlimited and Pittsburgh Opera, in partnership with The American Museum of Natural History. Featuring music by John Musto and Libretto by Eric Einhorn, the production marks the first ever opera performance in the museum’s Hall of Saurischian Dinosaurs.

Rhoda and the Fossil Hunt tells the “real-life experiences of Rhoda Knight Kalt and her grandfather Charles R. Knight, the famous naturalist illustrator whose paintings and sculptures of dinosaurs, wooly mammoths, and Neanderthals are still on display at the Museum today.”
