Curtis Finch, Jr., who had performed "I Believe" on the March 13 telecast, was eliminated after receiving the least number of votes. Judges Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were unable to come to a unanimous decision to use the once-a-season "save" for the aspiring singer.
On March 20 at 8 PM ET, the remaining nine finalists will perform the songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The fans’ choice for the 11th person to join the "American Idol LIVE!" tour will also be revealed.
The March 21 results show, which also begins at 8 PM, will feature performances by Ne-Yo and Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez.
Those currently competing for the "American Idol" crown include Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, Paul Jolley, Angie Miller, Burnell Taylor and Devin Velez.
Former "American Idol" contestants who have taken to Broadway after their stint on "Idol" include Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple), Clay Aiken (Spamalot), Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages), Diana DeGarmo (Hairspray), Frenchie Davis (Rent) and Jordin Sparks (In the Heights) as well as former "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi (Chicago), among others.
