Composer-lyricists and screenwriters Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner are currently developing a new musical comedy series for The CW, according to Deadline. The duo, who created Broadway’s First Date starring Krysta Rodriguez and Zachary Levi, have been tapped to pen Nobody’s Princess.

The musical comedy, set in New York City, revamps four fairy tales where the princesses are a group of friends in their 20s set on making their own happy endings. (Think Sex and the City meets Enchanted.)

Zachary and Weiner, who have also penned the opening numbers for the annual BroadwayCon and are working on an adaptation of 17 Again, will co-create and executive produce with Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith (Life Sentence).

The CW is losing its current musical comedy, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which is in its fourth and final season on the network.
