The fourth and final season of television’s musical comedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premieres October 12 on The CW.
The series, co-created by star Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna, first began in 2015 as it followed Rebecca Bunch when she decided to leave New York and move to West Covina, California, where her ex-boyfriend and first love lives.
Over the course of three seasons, the show has welcomed big theatre names as series regulars (see: Santino Fontana and Donna Lynne Champlin) as well as guest stars (Tovah Feldsuh and Patti LuPone). The show also stars Vincent Rodriguez III, Pete Gardner, Vella Lovell, Gabrielle Ruiz, David Hull, and Erick Lopez. This season, fans can expect guest stars Patton Oswalt, Queer Eye’s Tan France, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding’s Nia Vardalos.
As previously announced, Broadway’s Skylar Astin joins the cast as a new incarnation of Greg (Fontana’s character from earlier seasons).
The show features original music by Bloom, Jack Dolgen, and Adam Schlesinger. The show was nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics in 2017. It had been nominated for four Primetime Emmys in 2016 and won two: Outstanding Single-Camera Editing for a Comedy Series for Kabir Akhtar as well as Outstanding Choreography for Kathryn Burns. That year, Bloom won a Golden Globe for her performance as Rebecca.
