Broadway Cares Fire Island Dance Festival Announces In-Person Dates and Performers

The festival benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' Dancers Responding to AIDS program.

For the first time since 2019, the Fire Island Dance Festival will take place in-person July 15-17 at Fire Island Pines.

The annual event benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' Dancers Responding to AIDS program and showcases choreographers and companies of varying experience levels.

Performers include National Ballet of Canada principal dancers Harrison James and Ben Rudisin in a romantic pas de deux choreographed by Joshua Beamish; emerging choreographer Akira Uchida in a work that is a blend of contemporary dance and jazz; Buglisi Dance Theatre with a reimagined excerpt of “Requiem,” created for the 20th anniversary of 9/11 at Lincoln Center; a non-binary duet with Caleb Teicher and former principal of the Martha Graham Dance Company Abdiel Jacobsen; and The Verdon Fosse Legacy with a trio of short dances originally choreographed by Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse. Additional performers will be announced.

The festival has raised over $6.9 million since its beginning in 1995 with proceeds going to those in need nationwide, providing medications, meals, counseling, and emergency financial assistance. Visit DRADance.org.
