The Ogunquit Playhouse has announced details of its 2017 season, which includes the world premiere of the Elvis Presley musical Heartbreak Hotel and the North American rolling premiere of From Here to Eternity.

Heartbreak Hotel, which runs August 30–September 30, traces Presley’s early years. According to Ogunquit, “The show tells the story of Elvis Presley’s rise to stardom during the years leading up to the day of the famous recording session at Sun Studios. The story focuses on Presley’s journey from an unknown musician to the cusp of his super-stardom and the people who influenced him along the way, complete with some of his biggest hits.”

The jukebox musical will include such songs as “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Tutti Frutti,” “That’s All Right Mamma,” Shake Rattle and Roll,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” and more.

From Here to Eternity, the latest musical from lyricist Tim Rice, will run October 4–29. The Broadway-aimed musical based on the James Jones novel has lyrics by Rice, book by Donald Rice and Bill Oakes, and music by Stuart Brayson. Following a 2013 London world premiere, From Here to Eternity made its American debut as part of the 2016 Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival. Ogunquit will collaborate with them and Rice on the show’s rolling premiere.

Here’s how it’s billed:Set in Hawaii in the weeks before the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, this epic tale follows the powerful story of two U.S soldiers, the soulful Private Prewitt and ardent Sergeant Warden, as they embark on doomed and dangerous love affairs with the wrong women. As the infamous date of December 7th approaches, the claustrophobic world of the four lovers and the desperation of the soldiers of G Company splinter amidst an escalating war.”

The season also includes the international ABBA hit Mamma Mia! (May 17–July 1); the stage musical adaptation of Woody Allen’s Bullets Over Broadway (July 5-29); the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime (August 2-26); and White Christmas (November 29-December 27).
