Filmmaker Matthew Miele (Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s) will release a documentary going behind the typically discrete doors of New York’s legendary Carlyle Hotel this spring. Always at the Carlyle reveals the status (and scandals) the famed hotel has hosted through interviews with its esteemed guests, including Anjelica Huston, George Clooney, Tommy Lee Jones, Kelli O'Hara, and the late Elaine Stritch.
The hotel’s esteemed Café Carlyle has welcomed myriad theatre favorites over the years, including Chita Rivera, Christine Ebersole, John Lloyd Young, and Laura Osnes; its list of guests includes former presidents, and Hollywood icons.
“The most famous elevator ride in history took place in the Carlyle,” says Piers Morgan in the trailer above. “Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, and Steve Jobs all at the same time. Now that is a power elevator.”
In addition to stories from its famous guests, the hotel’s memorable staff—from concierge to bartenders—share their stories about what makes the hotel an institution.
