An enterprising theatre group has received financial help from several stars. The cast of Postcards From Maupassant, who are staging a play from five of the French writer's stories at this year's Edinburgh Festival, have received help in raising the £10,000 or so needed from several leading theatrical figures.
Playwright Sir Tom Stoppard, actor and director Richard Wilson and Ralph Fiennes, one of Britain's best Shakespearean actors as well as a movie star, have all chipped in to help make the production possible: kind of them, enterprising of the cast, and much more fun than appealing to the bank manager.
