Off-Broadway News Eden Espinosa, Ciara Renée, More to Star in Lizzie Borden Musical Off-Broadway The rock musical, inspired by the infamous real-life story, will return this summer.

Shannon O'Boyle (Kinky Boots) will star as Lizzie in a new Off-Broadway production of the Lizzie Borden-inspired rock musical, Lizzie The Musical, at the Pershing Square Signature Center this summer. Rounding out the cast will be Wicked star Eden Espinosa, Ciara Renée (Big Fish), and original Off-Broadway cast member Carrie Cimma.

Lizzie will play the Signature Theatre's Irene Diamond Stage beginning July 19 with an official opening scheduled for August 5.

The musical details the notorious story of Lizzie Borden, who in 1892, was the main suspect in the brutal axe murders of her father and stepmother. As secrets in the Borden household reach a boiling point, Lizzie’s rage explodes, and she finds herself considering the unthinkable.

Espinosa will play Emma, Renée will play Alice, and Cimma will reprise the role of Bridget from the 2009 Off-Broadway staging, as well as productions in Portland and Houston. Espinosa also appeared in a Denmark production of Lizzie.

Lizzie has music by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer and Alan Stevens Hewitt, lyrics by Cheslik-DeMeyer and Tim Maner, and a book by Maner. The production is directed by Victoria Bussert, with choreography by Jaclyn Miller.

The Off-Broadway engagement is presented by Danita Thomas, John E. Thomas, and Born Cooper Productions. Performances are scheduled through September 29.
