BT McNicholl stages the Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick-Joseph Stein musical that will run through June 20. The musical officially opened May 1. Fiddler is the final production of the 2009-2010 season at the Long Island, NY theatre.
Mekka ("Laverne & Shirley," Jumpers, The Magic Show) appears as Tevye, with Megan Thomas as Golde, Barbara Tirrell as Yente, Erick Devine as Lazar Wolf, Jodie Langel as Tzeitel, Kraig Swartz as Motel, Allison Walla as Hodel, Andy Kelso as Perchik, Lilly Tobin as Chava and Ben Gunderson as Fyedka.
The ensemble includes Chris Brady, Joel Briel, Cara Buschi, Stephen Cerf, Andrew Eckert, Danny Gorman, Gordon Gray, Holly Greenberg, Brody Hessin, Robert Kalman, Birdie Newman Katz, Matthew Naclerio, Bruce Rebold, Shoshanna Richman, Scott Saperstein, Mark J. Scherer, Stephen Valenti, Ian Buchman, Salvatore Casto, Alyssa Cavallaro, Dylan Sage Perles, Zoe Kaya Perles, Austin Pogrob, Larry Saperstein and Carly Tamer.
Designing the production are Court Watson (set design), Tricia Basamian (costume coordinator), Craig Kaufman (sound design) and Richard Latta (lighting design). Mike Pettry serves as musical director.
One of the most popular titles in the musical theatre oeuvre, Fiddler on the Roof premiered on Broadway in 1964, earning ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score.
