There’s still no word, however, on who will replace Spacey for performances after June 18, when he has to leave to shoot the new “Superman” film (he’s playing evil genius Lex Luthor. The Chicago-born Moffett became an actor after having tried various other careers. He took evening acting classes at David Mamet’s St. Nicholas Theatre and founded that Chicago’s Remains Theatre Ensemble, acting and directing. John Malkovich cast him in Lanford Wilson’s Balm in Gilead in 1986, a production which went to Off-Broadway. Other stage turns include Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart in New York.

However, he’s best-known as a film actor. His cinema credits include “Thirteen” opposite Holly Hunter, Steven Soderbergh’s “Traffic” and Bernardo Bertolucci’s “Stealing Beauty.”

Moffett and the rest of the cast, led by Jennifer Ehle as Tracy Lord, will remain for the duration after Spacey leaves.
