Disney stars Drew Seeley (High School MusicalAnother Cinderella Story) and Riley Van Cleve (Create Your World) are set to star in the new coming-of-age story Saturday–The Movie Musical. Principal photography begins in Los Angeles this month, with a wide release planned for 2026.

Saturday is written by Diane Foster (who will also direct), Lara Cody, and composer Mark Vogel, and adapted from the original stage musical by Cody and Vogel. With 13 original songs by Vogel, the film is described as The Breakfast Club meets High School Musical. Foster and Gina Rizzo Bishop will co-choreograph.

Set in an SAT prep class, Saturday follows a diverse group of teens who, over the course of one intense day, confront their fears, discover their voices, and bond through music, dance, and moments of truth.

The cast will also include Desireé Davar (Jersey Boys), Owen Johnston (Allegiance), David Hernandez (American Idol), Marcelle LeBlanc (Stranger Things), Brandon Keith Rogers (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Chris Bey (Home Economics), Jackie Cong Tran, Monica Evans, Kita Grayson, Mario Houle, Zeke Jones (Ick), Sanjana Khurana, Adam Leiva, Lena Pham, Stella Pozzuoli, Alondra Santos (America's Got Talent), Keaton Scolari, Lazarus Tate (Baby Racer), Luisa Wilson, and Camp Schill.

Saturday is a heartfelt love letter to musical theatre and the beautifully messy journey of being a teenager," Foster said in a statement. "It’s joyful, inclusive, and packed with songs that stay with you long after the credits roll. This is the kind of movie I wished existed when I was growing up—and now I get to bring it to life with a cast that’s pure magic. I truly believe it’s the kind of film people will watch, rewatch, and carry with them.”

Foster is also producing under her WallyBird Productions banner.
