The Cancer Support Community’s annual Spring Celebration is held April 16 at The Lighthouse on Pier 61 on New York City’s Hudson River waterfront. Taking part in the evening are Tony winners Donna Murphy, Debra Monk, and Karen Ziemba, who will offer a musical tribute honoring their late friend Marin Mazzie.
The event will also recognize Tony nominee and acute myeloid leukemia survivor Ashley Park, whose Broadway credits include Mean Girls, Sunday in the Park with George, and The King and I, with the first-ever Marin Mazzie Award for Empowerment. Mazzie’s husband, actor Jason Danieley, will present the award to Park.
In 2016 Ms. Mazzie and Danieley received CSC’s Founders Award for Empowerment. After Mazzie passed away last year from ovarian cancer, CSC renamed the award after the 2017 American Theater Hall of Fame inductee and three-time Tony nominee to recognize notable public figures who use their platform to both advocate for and inspire people who are living with cancer and their loved ones.
The Cancer Support Community is a global non-profit that provides vital resources to cancer patients and their caregivers.
