The live-action version of Disney's Aladdin has set a 2019 release date.
The film, directed by Guy Ritchie, will arrive in cinemas May 24, 2019, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith will play the Genie in the remake, which is currently filming at Longcross Studios outside London. Riding the magic carpet will be Mena Massoud (Jack Ryan, Open Heart) as Aladdin and Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) as Princess Jasmine.
Tony nominee Billy Magnussen, who starred as Cinderella’s Prince in the film adaptation of Into the Woods, will play one of two new characters that have been added to the storyline: Prince Anders, a potential suitor for Princess Jasmine. Also added for the remake is the character of Dalia, Princess Jasmine’s handmaiden and confidante, who will be played by SNL alum Nasim Pedrad.
Also in the cast are Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, and Numan Acar as Hakim, Jafar’s right-hand man.
Big Fish screenwriter John August wrote the new screenplay for Aladdin, which incorporates original songs from the film by Oscar winners Alan Menken, Tim Rice, and the late Howard Ashman, as well as two new songs by Menken and Tony- and Academy Award-winning Dear Evan Hansen and La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The stage adaptation of Aladdin is currently playing on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre starring Telly Leung in the title role. Courtney Reed plays Jasmine, and Major Attaway is the Genie.
