Disenchanted!, About Fairy-Tale Princesses, To Vanish | Playbill

News Disenchanted!, About Fairy-Tale Princesses, To Vanish Disenchanted!, the Off-Broadway musical that pokes fun at the world of fairy-tale princesses, will close Sunday, June 14 after 30 previews and 139 regular performances.

The musical opened at the Westside Theatre in New York on April 7 and earned nominations for a 2015 Outer Critics Circle Award as Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and a 2015 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical.

As it did during its initial 2014 run, the cast features Michelle Knight (Jersey Boys) as Snow White; Becky Gulsvig (Legally Blonde) as Cinderella; Jen Bechter (Elf) as Sleeping Beauty; Lulu Picart (Listen To My Heart) as Hua Mulan/Pocahontas/Princess Badroulbadour; Alison Burns (Rent) as Belle/The Little Mermaid/Rapunzel; and Soara-Joye Ross (Les Misérables) as The Princess Who Kissed the Frog.

The show features book, music and lyrics by Dennis T. Giacino, direction by Fiely A Matias and musical staging by Matt West (Sleeping Beauty).

Produced by Don Frantz (Beauty and the Beast) and Jonathan Pollard (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change), the musical comedy presents a different perspective on the fairy-tale princesses we thought we knew all too well. According to press notes, “The original storybook heroines have come back to life to set the record straight. After multiple sold-out runs nationwide, these royal renegades tosses off their tiaras to bring their hilariously subversive, not-for-the-kiddies musical to New York City.”

Following successful runs around the country, Jan. 25 marked the final performance of the original limited Off-Broadway engagement of Disenchanted! at Theatre at St. Clement’s prior to re-opening at Westside Theatre.

Tickets are available online by visiting Telecharge.com or calling (212) 239-6200 and via disenchantedmusical.com. Westside Theatre Upstairs is located at 407 West 43rd St., New York.
