The production, which is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, who also choreographed the original Broadway production (which was directed by Jack O'Brien), marked the debut of Jerry Mitchell Productions, a new production company he has formed under the auspices of Britain's Ambassador Theatre Group to "develop, create and produce new productions for ATG theatres in London, New York and around the world."
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is, as previously announced, set to launch a U.K. tour at Birmingham's New Alexandra Theatre May 5, with runs at Manchester Opera House, Sunderland Empire and the King’s Theatre in Glasgow to be followed by international productions in Australia, Germany and South Korea.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels originally began performances March 10, 2014, at the West End's Savoy Theatre prior to an official opening April 2, following prior out-of-town dates at Manchester and Aylesbury. It currently stars Robert Lindsay as Lawrence Jameson along with Alex Gaumond as Freddy Benson (replacing original star Rufus Hound), Katherine Kingsley as Christine Colgate and Bonnie Langford as Muriel Eubanks.
The cast also comprises Lizzy Connolly, Gavin Alex, Darren Bennett, Niamh Bracken, Lisa Bridge, Darren Carnall, Andy Conaghan, Phoebe Coupe, Claire Doyle, Alice Fearn, Selina Hamilton, Ian Knauer, Lisa Mathieson, Zak Nemorin, Genevieve Nicole, Javier Santos, Todd Talbot, Dominic Tribuzio, Jon Tsouras and Zara Warren.
It will be followed at the Savoy Theatre by Gypsy, transferring from Chichester Festival Theatre, to begin performances March 28 prior to an official opening April 15.
