The cast features Abigail Breslin as Baby, Debra Messing as Marjorie Houseman, Bruce Greenwood as Dr. Jake Houseman, Nicole Scherzinger as Penny, Colt Prattes as Johnny, Sarah Hyland as Lisa Houseman, Tony Roberts as Max Kellerman, Trevor Einhorn as Neil, Shane Harper as Robbie Gould, J. Quinton Johnson as Marco, Beau “Casper” Smart as Billy, Katey Sagal as Vivian Pressman, and Billy Dee Williams as Tito.
Jessica Sharzer penned the teleplay. Wayne Blair directs with choreography by Hamilton Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler, represented on Broadway this season with the new musical Bandstand. Adam Anders is the executive music producer.

Here is how ABC describes Dirty Dancing: “Spending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances ’Baby’ Houseman falls in love with the camp’s dance instructor, Johnny Castle, and nothing is ever the same for anyone in the Houseman family. Not only are the memorable songs from the original movie included, but there are additional songs from the era that will be featured, showcasing double the number of musical performances by the stellar cast.”
The 1987 film was directed by Emile Ardolino based on a screenplay by Eleanor Bergstein. The cast was headed by Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, and Jerry Orbach. The motion picture won an Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song for “(I've Had) The Time of My Life.”
A musical version has been touring the country for several years but has yet to play Broadway.
