Tony Award-winning set designer David Rockwell and Tony-nominated costume designer Isabel Toledo will be joined by The New York Times fashion director Vanessa Friedman in discussion on May 18 as part of the publication's Times Talk lineup. The discussion will take place at 4 PM at The Times Center, located at 242 West 41st Street.
The designers will discuss their passion for design, inspirations, and their respective versatility (Rockwell also designs hotels, restaurants, and performance spaces, and Toledo has designed for ballet as well as her independent clothing line).
Rockwell is currently represented on Broadway with Lobby Hero, as well as the upcoming Pretty Woman: The Musical. His recent Broadway credits include Falsettos, She Loves Me, On Your Feet!, Sylvia, On the Twentieth Century, and Side Show, among many more.
Toledo has designed for Michelle Obama, who wore one of her designs to former President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration. She is the recipient of a Couture Council Award for Artistry in Fashion, and the Smithsonian Museum’s Cooper Hewitt National Design Award.
The Times Talk even with Rockwell and Toldeo is part of the TimesTalks Art + Design Festival in conjunction with NYCxDESIGN. For more information click here.
