The 63rd Annual Drama Desk Awards, honoring the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off Off-Broadway, will be presented June 3, 2018—one week before the Tony Awards—at the Town Hall.
Nominations for this year's Drama Desks will be revealed April 26 at a venue to be announced.
Joey Parnes Productions will produce and manage the show, which will be written by Bill Rosenfield and directed by Mark Waldrop.
The 2017-2018 Drama Desk Nominating Committee comprises David Barbour, Linda Buchwald, Peter Filichia, Helen Shaw, Martha Wade Steketee, Zachary Stewart, Doug Strassler, and Charles Wright; the latter is the Drama Desk president. Gretchen Shugart is the managing executive producer of the Drama Desk Awards.
The Drama Desk was founded in 1949 to “explore key issues in the theater and bring together critics, writers, editors, and publishers in an organization to support the ongoing development of theatre in New York.” The organization began presenting its awards in 1955.
Edelstein will directs a cast of 30, with nearly 1,000 San Diegans participating directly in the milestone production that will mark the completion of the Bard’s canon at the venue.
