Darren Criss joins the cast of Roland Emmerich’s upcoming World War II film Midway, according to Deadline.
The actor, currently preparing for Elsie Fest 2018 as well as just-announced West Coast dates of his tour with Lea Michelle, will play Lieutenant Eugene Lindsey in the Wes Tooke-penned movie.
Criss joins previously announced cast members Woody Harrelson, Patrick Wilson, Ed Skrein, Aaron Eckhart, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, and Nick Jonas.
Midway chronicles a pivotal battle against the Japanese and is set for release November 8, 2019 (the Friday before Veterans Day).
Criss first debuted on Broadway as J. Pierrepont Finch in the 2011 revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, taking over for Daniel Radcliffe, and later replaced in the title role of the 2014 revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. A current Emmy nominee for his work in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Criss broke into television via the musical comedy Glee.
The fourth annual Elsie Fest takes place October 7 in Central Park with a lineup that includes another Glee co-star and Broadway favorite, Matthew Morrison.
