Tony Awards Darren Criss and Julianne Hough to Host 1st Hour of 2022 Tony Awards Live on Paramount+

The Emmy winners and current Broadway stars will host an hour of awards and performances prior to the CBS broadcast of the main ceremony.

Emmy winners and current Broadway stars Darren Criss and Julianne Hough will host the first hour of the 2022 Tony Awards live on Paramount+. The Tony Awards: Act One, set to stream live June 12 at 7 PM ET from Radio City Music Hall, will see multiple Tony Awards given out and special performances to be announced.

The Paramount+ stream will be followed by the main ceremony, airing simultaneously on CBS and Paramount+ (the latter for premium-level subscribers only) from 8 PM ET, making this year's ceremony the first in Tony Awards history to be available live nationwide. The broadcast will also be available to stream on demand on Paramount+ for all membership tiers following the live stream. As previously announcedWest Side Story Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose will host the main ceremony.

Criss is currently co-starring with 2022 Tony nominees Laurence Fishburne and Sam Rockwell in the Broadway revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Previous Broadway credits include Hedwig and the Angry Inch and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Criss is also known for his work on TV, including roles on Glee and Central Park, and an Emmy-winning turn on American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

Hough, best known for her work on Dancing with the Stars and films Rock of AgesSafe Haven, and Paradise, is currently making her Broadway debut in POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive. Hough stars alongside Vanessa Williams, Julie White, Lilli Cooper, Lea DeLaria, Suzy Nakamura, and 2022 Tony Award nominee Rachel Dratch.
