London’s Phoenix Arts Club will host a sneak peek concert of the new musical Avalon April 22.

Written and created by Callum Shannon, the folk pop musical brings the folklore and fables of the Arthurian legend to life for a new retelling of King Arthur's journey to the mythical island Avalon.

Starring Joshua Edge, the 90-minute concert presentation will also feature Danielle Hope (Les Misérables, Grease), Courtney Stapleton (Beauty and the Beast, Six), and Paige Peddie (Oklahoma!, The Book of Mormon).

The company is completed by Jake Stephen (Sunday in the Park with George), Will Silver (Choir of Man), Kurran Dhand (The Jungle Book, Beauty and The Beast), Ayesha Patel (Lizzie, Broken Wings), and Conor Mellor (Giovanni Pernice Let Me Entertain You, Barricade Boys).

Adapted from Sir Thomas Malory’s 15th-century prose Le Morte D’Arthur, Avalon gained global attention as the winner of the 2023 Write Out Loud songwriting contest, where Shannon won for the song "It’ll Find Me," performed for the contest by Tony nominee A.J. Shively (Paradise Square). The song has since been recorded by Casey Cott (Moulin Rouge).

The first-look concert will be produced by Dean Gild, with music supervision by Alex Turney and casting by Ben Armstrong.
