Baggage at the Door, a new one-woman musical, opens Off-Broadway at AMT Theater November 2. The musical, which began previews October 31, will continue its limited run through November 16.

Dealing head-on with the conflicting cycles of vulnerable love and PTSD, the musical was created and is performed by Dana Aber, with music direction by Jacob Stebly, and direction and dramaturgy by Joe Langworth.

After four consecutive January's with near-death experiences, a New Year's love begins to go south when Dana's carefully hidden PTSD is revealed, forcing her to reckon with years of conflicting identities and memories. Can she process her trauma, or is she doomed to lose the love she has been yearning for all her life? Somewhere in a sea of rhinestones, cheese, and literal tap dancing around her troubles lies the truth, and she is determined to find it.

Baggage at the Door features songs created in collaboration by James Ballard, Christie Baugher, Alanya Bridge, Amy Burgess and Sara Cooper, Teresa Lotz, Joseph Trefler, Rachel Dean, Mika Kauffman, Martha Miller, and Thomas Jacobsen.

Original art for the show has been created by Jamie Gaul, Josh Haplea, Chelsey Hill, Nichola Latzgo, Annie Moor, Bee Michael, Dr. Natalie J. Russ, and Dana Aber.

As a survivor of traumatic events and domestic abuse who has worked, through therapy and later through creative process, to confront the mental health damage created from them, Aber created Baggage at the Door from essays and poetry written in response to her struggle.

The additional creative team consists of orchestrator Josh Freilich, set designer Marc Halpin, lighting designer Aiden Bezak, and projection designs by Aber. The production stage manager is Brent Michael Jones. Baggage at the Door is a co-production between Big Thunder LLC and AMT Theater.
