The Tonys are over, but there's one more award show to go -- the Friends of New York Theatre "FANY" Awards. When they are presented June 25 at Swing 46, Robert Cuccioli, Alice Ripley and Brian d'Arcy James will join Olympia Dukakis and her husband, "Mad About You"'s Louis Zorich, former FANY winner Kellie Overby and The Wild Party's Jane Summerhays as guest celebrities handing out the prizes.
The guest celebs -- and everyone else in the theatre community -- had better watch out. For the first time, the FANYs will feature an opening number, a parody ala Billy Crystal's famous Oscar openers, guaranteed to mock the nominated shows and the nominees. The evening's MC Bill Tatum and Norma Mae Lyng (Dirty Blonde, Forbidden Broadway) will present the number.
This year's awards ceremony, while including the usual hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, coffee and desert, will also feature after-party dancing to the sounds of swing band Billy and the Hot Shots.
The Friends of New York Theatre Awards are chosen by the members of their organization, which is open to anyone for a membership fee. Dues range from $200-$25. Tickets for the FANY Awards run $50 and $75.

Michael John LaChiusa's Wild Party and Contact are the big nominees -- with nine apiece -- for the Friends of New York Theatre Awards. Nominations were announced May 3 for the “FANYs,” which will be voted on by the Friends' members and then awarded June 25.
It's a good year for LaChiusa, as far as FANYs are concerned. Not only did the composer-lyricist garner four nominations himself, his Marie Christine earned seven noms, the fourth most of any Broadway production in the FANY season (March 28, 1999-March 30, 2000). Other high scorers include Kiss Me, Kate (8 noms) and Aida, Swing!, James Joyce’s The Dead and The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, all tying with five each.
Since 2000's deadline was March 30, this year's Awards do not include The Green Bird, The Music Man, Dirty Blonde and Uncle Vanya. 1999 shows rendered ineligible for last year's awards which are eligible in 2000 are The Iceman Cometh, Marlene, Ring Round the Moon, Fascinating Rhythm, Amy's View, It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and The Lonesome West.
