Concord Theatricals Recordings releases the 2023 Off-Broadway cast recording of Classic Stage Company’s production of I Can Get It for You Wholesale, winner of the 2024 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, February 28 on all streaming platforms. Stream or download the album, and download the liner notes, here.

The album stars Tony winner Santino Fontana, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Tony nominee and 2024 Outer Critics Circle winner Judy Kuhn, Tony nominee Julia Lester, Joy Woods, and more.

Sean Patrick Flahaven, chief theatricals executive for Concord, produced the recording with Olivier nominee David Chase. Harold Rome's score for the revival was adapted and arranged by Chase, with music direction and orchestrations by Jacinth Greywoode.

The 1962 musical I Can Get It for You Wholesale features a book (based on his own novel) by Jerome Weidman, reimagined for CSC by his son, John Weidman. Trip Cullman directed.

"Like all great work, this show speaks to both a specific time and place as well as today," says Flahaven in a statement. "This revised version remains honest, powerful and relevant. Concord is proud to release this cast recording and represent the licensing of the show.”

“For all of us who were involved in bringing this revised version of Wholesale to life at CSC, this cast album is a gift,” adds Weidman. “Particular productions live in the memory. When a musical closes without a cast album, those memories over time inevitably begin to blur. When there is a cast album, those memories can be revived, recaptured, and re-experienced. In a sense, it’s as if the show never entirely closed. Hopefully Wholesale will be done again, many times, but there will never be another cast like the extraordinary group which performed the show at CSC. People who were lucky enough to see them onstage now have a powerful tool which will allow them to travel back to that experience. Those who missed the production now have access to a vivid experience of what we accomplished.

The Classic Stage Company revival played October 10-December 17, 2023. The cast also included Adam Chanler-Berat, Eddie Cooper, Victor de Paula Rocha, Adam Grupper, Darron Hayes, Greg Hildreth, Hayley Podschun, Sarah Steele, Joy Woods, Ephie Aardema, Jennifer Babiak, Billy Cohen, and John Plumpis.

I Can Get It for You Wholesale is set in 1937 in New York City's Garment District and follows Bronx-born shipping clerk Harry Bogen (Fontana), who must choose between the comfort of community and his own ambitious dreams.

The CSC production also had scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Sun Hee Kil, choreography by Ellenore Scott, a score arranged and adapted by David Chase, and music direction and orchestrations by Jacinth Greywoode.

Bess Marie Glorioso served as the production stage manager, and Luner Eclipse Productions served as production manager.

Both the original and revised versions of the show are available for licensing by Concord Theatricals.
