Industry News Clubbed Thumb Offers New Commission for Writers of Color Submissions are now open for the $15,000 commission.

Applications are now open for a new commissioning initiative for writers of color from Obie Award-winning theatre company Clubbed Thumb. The open-application submissions will be read blind by a panel of artists and Clubbed Thumb staff, with the selected proposal receiving a $15,000 commission (two winners may split the award if the panel so elects).

Submissions are now being accepted at ClubbedThumb.org through 11:59 PM on October 8. The new initiative is made possible with the support of the Howard Gilman Foundation.

Having recently wrapped another season of SummerWorks, Clubbed Thumb is also gearing up for a workshop production of Eliza Bent's play Indeed, Friend! in the fall. Presented in collaboration with the Playwrights Horizons Theater School, the production will be directed by SummerWorks alum Knud Adams (Tin Cat Shoes), and will run September 12–15 in the Robert Moss Theater at Playwrights Downtown.
