Barrington Stage Company has added a new production of Brian Friel's Faith Healer to its 2023 season, with performances set for August 1-27 on the Massachusetts theatre's St. Germain Stage. Opening night is August 5.
A familiar face will be at the helm: Julianne Boyd, the company's founding artistic director who ended her 28-year tenure leading the company last year. Boyd has assembled a cast led by Christopher Innvar as Frank, co-starring alongside Mark H. Dold as Teddy and Gretchen Egolf as Grace.

The work follows a faith healer traveling the Welsh and Scottish countryside. Presented as four monologues, the play cycles through the same events from multiple vantage points. The play premiered in 1979 at Boston's Colonial Theatre, later playing a brief run on Broadway. In the years since, Faith Healer has become a classic of Irish playwriting, with a number of revivals worldwide.
The production will feature scenic design by Luciana Stecconi, costume design by Lex Liang, lighting design by David Lander, and sound design by Fabian Obispo.
As previously announced, Barrington will also present a new production of Cabaret in 2023, directed by the company's new artistic director, Alan Paul. Additional productions will be revealed in the coming weeks.
