Erin Davie (Diana, Sunday in the Park with George) and Mark Evans (Waitress) star as Iowa housewife Francesca and photographer Robert, respectively, in Signature Theatre's production of The Bridges of Madison County, which
officially opened August 15 following previews that began August 8 in
the MAX Theatre in Arlington, Virginia. Performances continue through
September 17.
Directed by Ethan Heard with music direction by Laura Bergquist and choreography by Kelly Crandall d’Amboise, the cast also includes Christopher Bloch as Charlie, Rayanne Gonzales as Marge, Julia Wheeler Lennon as Carolyn, Nolan Montgomery as Michael, Marina Pires (On Your Feet! national tour) as Marian/Chiara/State Fair Singer, and Cullen R. Titmas (The Last Ship) as Bud with understudies Carla Crawford, Tori Gomez, Alex Stone, and Douglas Ullman, Jr.

The romantic musical, which has a score by Tony winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Songs for a New World) and a book by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman (The Secret Garden, 'night Mother), centers on a brief, four-day love affair between a National Geographic photographer and an Italian-American housewife in 1965 Iowa.
The Bridges of Madison County won 2014 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, both for Brown. The musical was also nominated for Best Actress in a Musical (Kelli O'Hara) and Best Lighting Design (Donald Holder).
Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep starred in the 1995 film adaptation of the Robert James Waller novel; Tony winner O'Hara starred alongside Steven Pasquale in the Broadway company.
The production also has scenic design by Lee Savage, costume design by Kathleen Geldard, lighting design by Jesse Belsky, sound design by Eric Norris, wig design by Danna Rosedahl, fight choreography by Casey Kaleba, dialect coaching by Zach Campion, intimacy consulting and choreography by Chelsea Pace, and casting by Jorge Acevedo with New York casting by JZ Casting's Geoff Josselson and Katja Zarolinski.
