Charlotte d'Amboise, the much-in-demand singer-dancer actress who starred in the just-closed Broadway company of Contact — her final performance was aired live on PBS Sept. 1 — will return to the New York cast of Chicago on Sept. 17. D'Amboise will portray merry murderess Roxie Hart through Oct. 27. The actress received the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award, the L.A. Ovation Award and the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for her work as Roxie in the musical's national tour.
In addition to Contact and Chicago, d'Amboise has starred on Broadway in Cats, Song and Dance, Carrie, Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Damn Yankees and Company.
Bob Fosse, John Kander and Fred Ebb's Chicago, presented by Barry and Fran Weissler, plays the Shubert Theatre, 225 W. 44th Street. It won the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking.
