Chanticleer will extend its stop in New York City because of strong demand, performing a total of four shows at the Metropolitan Museum on December 1 and 4. The tour also includes visits to Chicago and Los Angeles and a total of ten concerts in the San Francisco area.
Chanticleer was founded in 1978 by Louis Botto to sing the then-neglected choral repertoire of the medieval and Renaissance periods, and has been directed by Joseph Jennings since 1983. Its repertoire now includes spirituals and gospel music, pop music, opera, and contemporary classical music, including many commissioned works.
