Stage to Page Catch Me's Aaron Tveit Sings the National Anthem at Opening of Broadway Show League's Softball Season (Video) The Broadway Show League kicked off its 57th annual softball season May 12 with opening ceremonies that included the first pitch thrown by the Catch Me If You Can team and a performance from the musical's star, Aaron Tveit.

The softball season schedule usually consists of nine or ten games, followed by playoffs to determine the champions in various categories. In addition, The League will play special games for charity, All Stars, and Old-Timers.

In 1955 an employee of The Actors Fund, John Effrat, established a formal league comprising the casts and crews of Broadway shows who had been gathering since the early 1950s for informal picnics and softball games. The League has continued to play on Thursday afternoons on the Hecksher Fields in Central Park.

Players in this year's season are from shows including The Addams Family, American Idiot, Anything Goes, Arcadia, Baby It’s You, Billy Elliot, Blue Man Group, Book of Mormon, Catch Me If You Can, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Memphis, Million Dollar Quartet, Phantom Of The Opera, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Rock of Ages, Sister Act, Wonderland, and Wicked.
