News Casting Complete for Chicago Shakespeare's 75-Minute The Little Mermaid Casting has been announced for Chicago Shakespeare Theater's 75-minute version of Disney's The Little Mermaid, a Broadway musical adaptation of the beloved film, which will be presented July 3-Aug. 16.

The limited engagement will be directed and choreographed by Rachel Rockwell, who worked with CST creative producer Rick Boynton to bring this new 75-minute production for family audiences to the Courtyard Theater.

Rachel Eskenazi-Gold will head the cast in the role of Ariel, with Rebecca Finnegan as Ursula, Matthew Jones as King Triton, Brandon Springman as Prince Eric, Joseph Anthony Byrd as Sebastian, Matthew Uzarraga as Flounder, Mark David Kaplan as Grimbsy, Matthew Crowle as Scuttle, Adam Fane as Jetsa and Sean Blake as Flotsam. King Triton’s other daughters, the Mersisters, are played by Missy Aguilar, Allyson Graves, Hanah Rose Nardone and Erica Stephan. The cast also includes ensemble members Este’Fan Kizer, Peter Scharbrough and Steven Spanopoulos.

Based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale, the musical, according to press notes, follows "Ariel, a young mermaid that longs for a life beyond the sea. Over the course of her adventure, she defies her father King Triton, makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula and ultimately finds her home on land and happiness with the handsome Prince Eric."

With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and book by Doug Wright, Disney’s The Little Mermaid features such songs as “Part of Your World,” “Kiss The Girl” and the Academy Award-winning “Under The Sea.”

The production team also includes music director Roberta Duchak, associate music director Valerie Maze, orchestrations coordinator Doug Peck, scenic designer Scott Davis, costume designer Theresa Ham, lighting designer Yael Lubetzky, projection designer Shawn Sagady, puppet designer Chelsea Warren, sound designer Josh Horvath and wig and makeup designer Melissa Veal.
