Directed by John Bowab, the production will play the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA, Sept. 20 at 7:30 PM and the Janet and Ray Scherr Forum at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks, CA, Sept. 26 at 3:30 PM.
The cast will include MTG members Chuck Bergman, Christopher Callen, Helen Geller, Pamela Hamill, David Holmes, S. Marc Jordan, Paul Keith, Marsha Kramer, Michael Shepperd and Susan Watson as well as guest artists Erik McEwen, Barbara Minkus, DeBorah Sharpe-Taylor and Steven Smith.
70, Girls, 70 features music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Ebb and Norman L. Martin.
Based on the play Breath of Spring by Peter Cook, 70, Girls, 70, according to press notes, is "ostensibly about the residents of a senior citizens' hotel who become shoplifters to buy the building before it is sold to developers. What it really is about is staying alive and enjoying every minute. First produced in 1971 and playing just 35 performances, the show functions both as a frame to hold Kander & Ebb's winning honky-tonk vaudeville score and as a valentine to showbiz troupers."
The upcoming production will also feature tap choreography by Jeffrey Polk and musical direction by Steven Smith. Tom Griep is the conductor.
