Ahead of the December 5 first performance of Broadway’s Farinelli and the King, the Mark Rylance-led production has announced a general rush policy offering $32 day-of tickets.
A limited number of seats will be made available in-person at the Belasco Theatre box office at opening (10 AM, noon on Sundays). Locations may vary and are subject to availability. The production also offers balcony seats regularly priced at $32, as well as select seats in all levels of the theatre (including onstage and banquette seating) at the same price mark.
The play, written by Claire van Kampen (who is married to Rylance), officially opens December 17 and will run through March 25, 2018.

Tony and Oscar winner Rylance reprises his performance as King Philippe V of Spain from the 2015 West End engagement, which followed a sold-out run at Shakespeare’s Globe. The play tells the story of the king, who, suffering with insomnia, enlists the castrato Farinelli to comfort him through song. As the king grows captivated, Farinelli is forced to choose between his fame as a singer and a life of solitude with the king.
The cast also includes Sam Crane as Farinelli, with Grammy-winning countertenor Iestyn Davies and James Hall sharing the singing voice of the title character. Rounding out the company are Huss Garbiya, Melody Grove, Lucas Hall, Colin Hurley, Edward Peel, Peter Bradbury, and Margot White.
