Jan. 23: Following an acclaimed Off-Broadway run, Pulitzer Prize finalist Stephen Karam brings his new comedy-drama The Humans to the Great White Way, helmed by Wicked Tony winner Joe Mantello. Taking place at a Thanksgiving dinner in Manhattan, the show has a cast that features Jayne Houdyshell, Cassie Beck, Reed Birney and Sarah Steele

OPENING

Jan. 14: Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway revival of the award-winning Michael Frayn comedy Noises Off opens with a star-studded cast that includes Andrea Martin, Megan Hilty, Rob McClure and Daniel Davis, to name a few. In this classic show-within-a-show, a cast of eccentric actors and creatives struggles to get through an opening night riddled with disasters. Read More: What happens when actors play actors? The leading men in Noises Off open up about finding common ground with their farcical characters.  

Jan. 20: Manhattan Theatre Club's premiere staging of Our Mother's Brief Affair, penned by Tony-winning playwright Richard Greenberg, officially opens on Broadway. Tony winner Linda Lavin heads the cast as family matriarch Anna in this new play about love, family and secrets.  LAST CHANCE

Jan. 17: The Tony Award-winning Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, plays its final performance. The hit musical received ten 2014 Tony Award nominations and won four. 

Jan. 20: New York Theatre Workshop plays its final performance of Lazarus, a production recently saddened by the news that its composer, David Bowie, passed away Jan. 10. The stirring musical follows a human-looking and forlorn alien's attempts to escape planet Earth.

Jan. 24: Deaf West's innovative production of Spring Awakening wraps up its Broadway engagement at the Brooks Atkinson theatre. The re-imagined staging is set to head out on a national tour in 2017. 

Jan. 24: Matthew Morrison takes his final bow as celebrated playwright J.M. Barrie in the acclaimed musical Finding Neverland – the story of how "Peter Pan," one of the most beloved stories of all time, came to life.

Jan. 20: Lincoln Center's 2016 American Songbook series launches this month, featuring intimate solo concerts by Tony nominee Vanessa Williams (Jan. 20) and stage and screen legend Rita Moreno (Jan. 23.) 

Jan. 22: The first ever BroadwayCon kicks off in New York's midtown district, allowing theatre fans an all-access experience featuring performers, musicians, dancers, choreographers, writers, designers, producers and a vast array of influencers who make Broadway happen.
